Master delivery and streaming formats

Mastering is the last technical step before distributor upload. With mastering at Misfiredexa in Amsterdam you get files aligned with common streaming requirements — without hype about «going viral» on loudness alone.

What mastering closes here

Mastering at Misfiredexa starts at €72 per track or €545 for up to twelve songs, including one revision round as described on the service page. Joris Meijer listens on calibrated monitors in our suite; the aim is balance, album sequence and exports distributors accept.

Mastering does not replace a mix. Send a stereo mix with headroom (see stem headroom); we adjust tone and loudness, not missing stems. A severely limited mix costs extra revision time — discuss upfront via contact.

File formats we deliver by default

  • 24-bit WAV at 44.1 kHz for most music releases.
  • 48 kHz WAV when you target video or broadcast.
  • Optional high-quality MP3 or AAC on request for previews — not as a substitute for the master archive.
  • Clear file names with track number and title, avoiding characters upload portals reject.

We deliver via secure download or external drive by appointment in Oud-West. Keep your own copy; our archive follows 24 month project rules in terms.

Loudness and streaming platforms

Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and similar services normalize playback. We aim for common integrated loudness around −14 LUFS for many pop/rock projects, with true peak safely below 0 dBTP to limit inter-sample clipping. Exact targets follow your genre and the references you supply.

Louder mastering does not mean the playlist stays louder — platforms often turn it down. We pick a level that works on phone, car and earbuds. Instrumental or classical work may need different targets; say so when booking.

Metadata, ISRC and credits

We do not encode ISRC unless you provide codes; in the Netherlands labels and distributors often assign ISRC at release. We can still structure folder and file names to your distributor checklist. Writers, producers and featured artists belong in your aggregator upload, not only in the WAV.

Voice-over or podcast loudness is sometimes −16 LUFS mono or platform-specific — a different path from music master. See voice-over recording if source material was tracked here.

Revision round and useful feedback

One revision round is included on standard mastering. Give feedback with timestamps («2:14 — sibilance») and one reference track with realistic loudness. Opposing wishes («louder and more dynamic everywhere») need prioritisation.

Extra rounds beyond the package are agreed at hourly or project rate. Mix changes after mastering usually need a new master from the updated mix — lock the mix before you book mastering.

Rights, billing and practical tips

Master files ship when invoice and — for new clients — the 30% deposit are handled per terms and conditions. VAT 21% appears on the quote. You keep ownership of your recordings; we process files as processor under privacy policy and optional data processing agreement for B2B.

Test exports on your phone and in the car before wide upload. Keep the master WAV untouched as source; let your distributor generate streaming copies. More questions? FAQ or the live gain guide if you re-track the next single.
